Same site, different name.

As you know from my previous update my former host was forced to terminate her hosting services So I had to find a new host and domain name. So here we, MariskaFans.com is our new home. Please update your bookmarks 🙂

I’ve uploaded pictures from the Hamilton and Cymbeline opening nights from the beginning of the month. I also uploaded an image from People’s Most Beautiful issue that I never had in the gallery.

I’m also going to work on getting the video archive back up and running so look out for that 🙂

IMPORTANT NOTICE: As of Monday, August 10, 2015, the domain Mariska-Online.com will no longer be available.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our hosting services/domain url will be closing and taken over by Hollywood.com. It’s been an absolute dream to be hosted by Fan-Sites.org since 2009 (almost 6 years now!) But like everything, all things must come to an end. Mariska-Online.com will no longer be a working url. BUT, we are working on finding a new domain name and hosting company. Sit tight 🙂

PS- I am on vacation until August 19th, so I won’t be able to get a new domain name/host until I return home, so the website will be offline for a short bit. I just wanted to post a quick update so you’re not surprised when you can’t access the site anymore.

One more thing- I will be able to transfer everything over to my new host, so I won’t lose any pictures etc.

You can comment on this post or email me if you have any questions at mariskaonline@yahoo.com. Replies might be a little slow since I am on vacation but I just wanted you to know first!

SVU Fan Project
May 15, 2015

Hey hey hey! So yesterday I asked on twitter if anyone would be interested in participating in a fan project for the finale. I meant to post this a month ago but forgot all about it. So I wanted to see if a lot of people were interested even though there’s not much time, and you were (yay!) SO ANYWAY, here’s the deal:

I’m going to make a video for the SVU finale next week. What I need for you is to take a picture or video of you holding a sign/poster/etc that says, “I watch SVU because…” (And then why you watch SVU) Easy right? If you don’t want to show your face on camera then just take a picture of your sign. Get creative with your signs, decorate them however you want! The deadline for pictures or videos is next Tuesday, May 19th. I will compile all pictures and videos into a video which will be sent to the cast and crew via twitter the day of the finale (May 20).

Email your submissions to mariskaonline@yahoo.com. Remember I need them by May 19th!

If you don’t already have a copy, Mariska is in People Magazine’s newest issue, World’s Most Beautiful. She’s photographed with hardly any makeup and looks even more gorgeous!

And, as you can see we have a new look here at Mariska-Online.com. It’s simple, clean, and just what I was looking for. Feel free to comment your thoughts 🙂 I hope you like it!

First off, I just want to say I am so sorry for taking so long to get this post up. But yes, Mariska’s birthday project has been delivered! The day I went she was feeling under the weather (poor thing), I didn’t have to wait long for her (unlike previous years where I was there all day), only 3-4 hours. It had been so cold, temperatures in the teens, but when I went thankfully it was in the 20s, so it was still cold but it could have been worse!

Anyway, onto the point. I took the train into the city with the travel book and the mason jar filled with hearts, and a few other things for Mariska’s birthday. I got to the location around 9am and just hung out on the street while they filmed. One of the crew members told me Mariska had a cold (and she sounded congested too), but she’s a pro and was smiling and laughing in between takes.

When they breaked for lunch I was standing by Mariska’s trailer and saw her walking down the street. I walked up to her and said hi. She smiled at me and said hi back and told me to walk with her. I explained the projects, and I also told her that we put something together every year for her birthday. Her smile was huge at this point and she said, “I remember you! Wow thank you so much. You put a lot of hard work into this and your dedication means so much to me. I appreciate this.” She was holding her heart at this point. She said that we made her birthday brighter 🙂 She thanked me again, grabbed my arm and then hugged me. By this point, I was having an outer body experience (lol). I told her I was about to cry- seriously every experience I have with her is like the first time. It will never get old! She said she couldn’t wait to get home so she could go through everything. She thanked me again for all the work I did, and told me to thank everyone involved. So thank YOU for making these projects what it became. None of this would have been possible without any of you. I’m so grateful to everyone who shared, tweeted, commented, reblogged, liked, promoted this project in anyway, shape or form. You guys are seriously the best! And I’m grateful for Mariska because let’s face it without her, I wouldn’t have this website and I wouldn’t do birthday projects for her every year. Can’t wait for next year!

I will add pictures this weekend so keep your eyes peeled 🙂

Today our fearless leader turns 51 years old. Thank you, Mariska, for having a voice, for standing up and saying NO MORE to the issues of abuse, for starting the Joyful Heart Foundation, for being a positive role model to not just me but everyone around you. The world needs more beautiful souls like you in this world. Happy Birthday Mariska! Today we celebrate you 🙂

In honor of Mariska’s birthday, I’ve uploaded a few pictures from a photo shoot Mariska did for Ladies Home Journal that were missing from the gallery.

Again, Happy birthday Mariska!

Birthday Project Part 2
October 8, 2014

OK so here’s the next part of the birthday project. It’s two parts, but they intertwine so I’m posting them together. It’s really long so bare with me 🙂

Part 2- Scavenger Hunt

OK so to start raising money for the Joyful Heart Foundation, why not make it interesting? You don’t have to take part in the scavenger hunt to join us but I promise to make it a lot of fun. It’s a $15 minimum donation to the Joyful Heart Foundation if you’d like to participate. Once you’ve donated directly to the Joyful Heart Foundation through the website, fwd me a copy of your donation confirmation and you’ll be added to the hunt. You have until October 16th to decide if you want to take part. Remember, the sooner you join, the more time you have to finish. Then, on October 14th, all participants will receive an email with your first set of clues. When you finish those clues, email me and if you’ve completed the tasks involved then you’ll get the next set of clues. Each set of clues will increase in difficulty until you receive the final batch of clues. There’s going to be 20-30 clues total (5 in each set). All you need to do is provide a picture for each of the clues in order to complete them. Just pictures nothing else will be needed.

-And what’s a scavenger hunt if there are no prizes, right? So the first two people to successfully complete the scavenger hunt will get a prize.
-First place- winner’s choice of anything ($45 or less) from the heartshop. AND an autographed Mariska No More T-Shirt.
-Second place- Winner’s choice of anything ($30 or less) from the heartshop.

-If you’d still like to donate to Joyful Heart, but not participate in the scavenger hunt, that is absolutely fine. Just fwd me the confirmation email with a note saying you’re not participating in the hunt and I won’t include you. The scavenger hunt is only lasting one week but I will be accepting donations until January 23rd. I’m sending a list of everyone who donated to Mariska and Joyful Heart so if you’d like to remain anonymous then please let me know as well.

Part 3- Hearts in a box

We will be giving her a personalized “Message in a box” filled with encouraging messages from the fans. Be one of the people to brighten her day! All you need is a piece of construction paper (any color) and make a cutout of a heart. Max dimensions 2.5in x 4.5in. Decorate the heart however you want. Be creative! However, only people who have donated to Joyful Heart will be allowed to participate. If you’re participating in the scavenger hunt, you don’t need to donate again just include a note in the email that you also want to send Mariska a heart and I’ll send you the mailing address. If you’re not participating in the scavenger hunt but would like to send a heart, just forward me a copy of your donation confirmation so I can send you the address.

Guidelines
-Write your messages as thoughtful, encouraging, funny as possible. Whatever you want to say (as long as it’s not disrespectful)!
-Do not write anything offensive, disrespectful, obscene or vulgar in any form.
-Do not include any type of personal information such as phone number, email address, home address. (Hearts that include such will be thrown out). Twitter handles are fine.
-Deadline for hearts must be postmarked no later than January 2nd for US & Canada, and December 23rd for international.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I’m reachable all over the web these days. Email, FB, twitter, tumblr. Let’s start raising money for the Joyful Heart Foundation!

I really am having a hard time believing Mariska-Online.com turns 5 today. I opened its doors back on September 14, 2009 and almost immediately became the foremost source for all things Mariska Hargitay.

I apologize in advance for this long-winded & somewhat indulgent post 😉

To go into a bit of history, since I think some of you have been visiting since day one, I opened the site as Mariska.fan-sites.org. I started this site for me as a way to keep up with her career. I never imagined it would grow into what it is today. And I definitely did not imagine I would be here 5 years later writing this post. In January 2010, I decided to get a domain and that’s when Mariska-Online.com was born. What makes this site special (for me) is the birthday projects I do every year. Since there are so many of you that can’t meet Mariska I thought why not do a project where fans can connect with her and she can read your messages. The first year I did it I had no idea how successful it would become. Literally mind-blowing. That first year has inspired me to make it an annual thing. In October 2013 the site reached a milestone…1 million visitors! Now bare in mind I don’t get paid to work on this site, so it was very exciting to see this website reach this milestone. That pretty much sums up the journey of the site.

A huge thanks to Mariska for just being Mariska. Without you this site wouldn’t exist. A big thanks to my amazing host The Fan Sites Network for giving me a chance to run a site for Mariska. And of course all the past & present fans who use this place as their source for Mariska Hargitay news & media. Fans are the heart of a fan site and I wouldn’t be motivated to keep going if it wasn’t for all of you, SO THANK YOU!! I can’t say that enough. I truly appreciate every comment, email and donation I’ve received over the years.

I wouldn’t have had the experiences I’ve had without this site. Attending the Joyful Heart Gala, meeting Mariska multiple times and the friendships I’ve made all because of this site. I really am so grateful for everything that’s happened the last 5 years (both personal & fan-site wise ;)).

Happy 5th Anniversary Mariska-Online.com!
-Jess

P.S. I wanted to do something special for the 5 year anniversary, but real life got in the way and I also didn’t have any unique ideas, next year 🙂 In the meantime, if you haven’t submitted your city or country for the birthday project, do so now! The deadline to participate is October 7th.

So, here’s the deal. I’m starting Mariska’s Birthday Project early because 1) There hasn’t been too much news lately and 2) I need enough time to put everything together. Sound good? Keep reading to find out how you can participate! As always, if you have any questions comment on this post or email me!

As I do every year, Mariska-Online.com is hosting it’s 5th annual birthday project. This project will be divided into two or three sections and will be given to Mariska on set in January. This year I’m going to be putting together a World Travel Guidebook. Mariska has fans all over the world and I thought it would be a fun idea to show her where we’re from. We’ll give her a compiled and summarized traveling guide!

What I need from you: A description of your country/state/city, must visit places, must eat food & beverage, cultures & traditions, anything else you think Mariska should know. Also include any pictures (preferably ones you have taken, but if not google is a good source!) I need all submissions by October 7th. Any questions? Email me at mariskaonline@yahoo.com.
